Everyone has their own personal gifts and talents.  The Word of God says that whatever your gift is....that it will make room for you.  In other words where your gifts or talents are that's where your provision will be (Proverbs 18:16 KJV).

There is no-one I believe who is not built neither created with a special gift.  That gift could change a life or put a smile on someone's face.

This Christmas make note of your gifts and talents and va va voom into 2015! And why not try MAC cosmetics mineralising finish for a special glow this season in your shade and tone.

Cr£@+iviTy part 2

Creativity part 2

Sitting down in a typical office workplace environment bored stiff as the outer shell of a boiled egg – lies dormant the creativity of business ventures, ideas and an impact to be impressed upon the world.  “Working 9-5” as the country-folk singer sang, is deemed as conformity as is what the greater percentage of Britain work if not more lengthy hours than this.  The question, “what does it take to be original?” is always the answer to the question of, “what does it take to be successful?”

On the one hand, a bold, confident, well-planned and structured idea can be the start of an original business, line of work by simply following through a creative idea to solve the problems that we face on a day-to-day basis.  Monday to Friday we work hard and expect a long and relaxing weekend, fun-filled at the least.  How then can this be expedited?

Many believe that to be original it requires one to be daring and this is partially true. However, there is more to it.  People from certain socioeconomic backgrounds for example of low-income homes are usually the owners of businesses that are presently having a global impact.  Despite their great educational/academic background, they fell short when it came to finances.  Wisdom, technology and the media have favoured them to push forward and delve into careers where heights had not yet reached.  Contrastingly, one could argue that in any business venture there are plenty of risks involved hence the majority of dormant entrepreneurs remain.  In addition to this with age and time comes responsibility and family in which dependants are involved.  The ambition to strive becomes more and more diluted and less and less swimmingly feasible.

It has been shown in the history and in present times globally that to be original and creative is to be successful though time is needed to build, learn and achieve these goals they are always worth the investment.  Self-belief, originality and creativity.  Most businesses that grow are usually out of a place of boredom, disappointment and failure.  Although as the saying goes, “where one door shuts another one or window opens”.

In consideration, however, I believe that creativity will always lead to success.  Creativity as stated in my previous blog is, new, unique, and different.  Why conform when you can transform  (Rom 12:2) and make a platform that inspires, aspires people educationally, financially and mentally.

In present climate, to be original means to be separate from the crowd, to stand out and to launch into the new.  These things are the opposite of conformity to dull everyday mundane, routine tasks.  This can even involve the food we eat and the inflexibility of our weekly diary schedules.  Whatever happened to spontaneity? For instance to illustrate this point further take Darwin’s evolution theory of natural selection.  To survive means that one has to be the best, top of their food chain and most influential.  This is better known as, “survival of the fittest”.  But wait, “what about those who are the fittest and most creative?’ In all businesses, academia and vocational endeavours, it takes confidence and literally a leap of faith to achieve the unthinkable and unattainable.

In conclusion, would it be better to manage yourself, your staff, or any interns or would it be better to be managed well into your old age by a system where less impact is made due the confinements and rules that are limited to change.  When I think of creativity I think of the fastidiously vetted architecture of the Egyptian pyramids which stands as one of the many wonders of the world.  But there is someone that is the most creative...He created you and me.  He’s a wonder!

Highlighting and contouring

These are simply ways to accentuate features from brows to cheek bones, to the T-zone area.  This entails using actual highlighters or concealers which can be purchased from all makeup brands and a darker shade of foundation by the jawline, sides of nose, upper forehead and lower cheek bone (- pouting often helps to define at this point/angle).

I had recently read in the New Yorker that, "creativity comes when insight is combined with hardwork of analytical processing".

I guess when I think of being creative or one who is creative I think of NEW.  New things, new ideas.  A choreographer, an artist, a writer, a scientist, a mathematician (New Yorker).

Although, as I read further I came across something so profound, "creativity is the process and not just the product." So this means being creative is not just the result of the idea but the journey of how it came about i.e. insight.

Personally, I love creativity.  I love new. This can be seen by one of my pieces, "Fluorescence" (see tumblr and attached).  Here, I used a range of lipstick colours - the more daring colours being: blue, green and yellow. The process was simply researching the different looks (see previous blogs on Research/II) and finding out which brands sell the products.  Through creativity, I was able to gain experience working with one of the buyers and producing a final product.

I remember I would always shy away from wearing red lipstick (see attached ruby woo red lipstick by MAC cosmetics) but overtime I saw that the use of colour was what made the difference.  As a make-up artist, displaying various looks, I see it as imperative to develop new and exciting ideas that are creative and also acknowledge the process of getting there.

I googled the term, "creative director" in terms of business and came up with these definitions:

- the person responsible for the creative vision, the look, the feel and the tone of a brand, hence the vibrant pink used in my brand logo (see DHM logo).

-functionally responsible for briefing, spotting a great idea, shaping, protecting it, leading it to global production and activation.

So be creative, get out there and stand out!

Research II

It is important to know the ins and outs of whatever you are involved in i.e. to have insight.   Being knowledgeable in your field and having the right insight tells the next person that you indeed know what you are talking about, and this represents your brand/company well or even yourself - making it attractive.

As a Make-up Artist (MUA), it is important to know my market i.e. :

Who is the audience that I am catering to?

What is their age?

Skin type?

Skin colour/tone?

What is the event/occasion?

What is the duration of the event?

What look are they going for?

These will help me organise my product selection and application process.  Furthermore this research involves networking with fellow MUAs/professionals for further advice on products, the latest and also for inspiration.

So....get your pen and notepad ready and network via social media, fellow professionals in your field, request for work experience and so on and so forth.

Though fearful to launch - the journey is exciting! Be frank, be professional and have a vision.

Good afternoon All!

So I thought I would share my thoughts on the research and planning of Divine House of Make-Up.  It is most vital to anything in life and especially for starting out on a new venture like myself.

So where did it all begin?
I came up with the name "Divine House of Make-Up" (DHM) because I wanted an artsy feel to the name and company. Many fashion icons use the term "House of..." for their line so I wanted to incorporate this for mine too and of course "Divine" comes from my Help and my Source, Jesus Christ.
I started applying make-up a couple of years ago with a friend of mine and we experimented with different looks.  I later bought a portfolio to transfer these once printed and the rest is make-up history!

The first ever photoshoot!
This began one day whilst surfing the net.  I was researching make-up artists and make-up in general and wanted to build up on earlier pieces from my portfolio.   God gave me the grace to gather a few looks and I thought it would be fun to name them e.g. sunkissed, barbie (to name a few).  I gathered a few models, a couple of photographers, a videographer/editor and a studio.....and there it was, the first Divine House of Make-Up Winter Photoshoot 2014 - we thank the Lord!

What's next for DHM?
Divine House of make-up is mainly in the business of make-up application and creating bold and high fashion looks #hautecouture.  These can be viewed on our very own Youtube channel and video and also on our tumblr.

The next step for DHM is more events, shows, networking and of course the product line - all of which require research and careful planning.

In essence, I can honestly say that planning is crucial and the foundation that will in fact determine the success of a thing.

So research, get writing, and plan plan plan! It will happen!

What does it mean to launch?...

Launch is defined as setting things in motion.  Launch means to push in order for something to roll.  A few synonyms for launch are: introduce, start, initiate, set-up and (my favourite) usher in.

As founder of DHM - Divine House of Make-Up, I can gladly say that we will be launching DHM in just under 10 days time!
So we hope to see you all there (ladies!) as we launch into this journey of make-up artistry and history!
Introducing, Divine House of Make-Up.
Come and join us as we start, initiate, set-up and usher in this new make-up line.
Stay tuned for pics from the launch.

Make-up is not about covering up blemishes or impressing others but rather about accentuating one’s features for everyday or occasional looks.  Make-up brands range from: Mac, Iman, Makeup Forever, Illamasqua, Bobbi Brown, Bare Minerals, L’Oreal, No. 7, Sleek, MUA, Rimmel and Revlon to name a few.  The make-up industry is constantly seeking make-up that not only is long-lasting but that can be applied by those who are passionate and care about the application process and after care.

Welcome to the official blog of Divine House of Make-Up aka DHM’s blog!!!!!!!

So this blog will mainly display my portfolio captures of fantastic looks as well as the latest products on the market and products of interest.

I will also post my latest inspirational messages from the humble DHM.
Stay tuned and enjoy the updates....
